Organization description

The Society for Earth (TNZ) is an all-Poland organization acting to preserve, protect and recover the natural heritage and to protect human health and life from the consequences of pollution. The association acts for creating conditions for local democracy development and for strengthening peace and the society.

The organization was established in 1989 as an informal group of the Green Federation and we were called FZ-Oświęcim. In 1994 it was registered and till 1997 it concentrated on environment protection at a local scale. Since 1997 the association has acted in the whole country under the current name.

So far we have realized several dozen of projects concerning active nature protection, environmental education, ecological waste management, environment friendly flood-control and local and governmental administration monitoring. We have issued more than 30 popular scientific publications. We are probably the only ecological organization in Poland that actively supports local communities facing the problem of investments that might be dangerous for the environment all over the country.
